Reviews Are Reportedly Coming Before Launch
For months the community assumed GTA 6 might launch with no reviews at all. Earlier rumors claimed Rockstar would skip review copies and run supervised on-site events to prevent leaks. Newer reports say otherwise. Insider Gaming reported that GTA 6's review embargo will lift before the November 19 launch, and withheld the exact date because it could still change. Insider NateTheHate then added that PS5 and Xbox copies are expected to reach press before the end of October, more than three weeks ahead of release.
What Is Confirmed and What Is Not
Rockstar has not officially announced a review schedule. Everything here comes from insider reporting, so treat dates as subject to change. The embargo date itself has not been made public by any outlet.
How Past Rockstar Launches Compare
GTA 5's reviews published on September 16, 2013, one day before its launch. Red Dead Redemption 2's embargo also lifted roughly 24 hours before release. If GTA 6 reviews arrive weeks early, it would be a notable change from the studio's usual pattern, and it matters for The Game Awards, where jurors need time with the game before nominations.
What About Leaks?
Rockstar's leak worries are real after the CyberLeek saga, but with no physical disc, the usual early-retail leak route is closed. Copies sent to press are digital builds, which Rockstar can control far more tightly.
What This Means for Indian Gamers
If reviews land before November 19, Indian players get something valuable: real critic and player impressions before preload opens on November 12 and before you commit storage and data. Pre-orders can still be cancelled before launch, so check the refund terms on your PlayStation Store or Xbox Store before pre-load day. And if you want zero spoilers, remember review season is also spoiler season, so mute keywords early.
My Take
Reviews before launch is the right call for a game asking $80. Even if you have already pre-ordered, an informed launch day is better than a blind one. I will believe the exact dates when Rockstar confirms them, but the signals all point the same way: we get scores before November 19.
