This Is Not a Joke — A Fan Actually Did This
GTA 6 anticipation has officially crossed into territory nobody saw coming. Reddit user Then-Pomegranate-625 has spent the past week conducting what can only be described as amateur surveillance of Rockstar North's Edinburgh headquarters. The methods used include directional microphones, a homemade oxygen sensor, luxury car traffic logs, and yes — counting discarded cigarette butts. The goal of all this? To predict exactly when GTA 6 Trailer 3 will drop.
The Oxygen Sensor Theory
According to the Reddit posts, this fan built a DIY oxygen sensor and recorded readings around Rockstar HQ during after-hours. He logged oxygen levels dropping to roughly 20.3% and then 20.04% after 5 PM, which he interpreted as evidence of more people breathing inside the building than usual. His theory: more people working late equals heightened activity equals Trailer 3 is close. Fan account @GTAVI_Countdown shared this update on X on June 7, 2026, and it spread like wildfire across the GTA community.
The Parking Lot Surveillance
Before the oxygen sensor, this same fan had set up audio recording equipment near a meeting room at Rockstar HQ — but Rockstar employees found and disposed of it. Undeterred, he switched strategies and began monitoring the parking lot instead, logging the time, number, and estimated value of every vehicle entering and leaving. On June 3, he reported spotting a Porsche Cayman S, a Ferrari 296 GTB, and a Rolls-Royce Cullinan all arriving between 5 PM and 6 PM — which he claims indicates an unusual number of executives were present, possibly for Trailer 3 planning meetings. He also counted cigarette butts near the building, noting "with 11 cars present and an average of 2 in 10 people being smokers, this is an insane amount of cigarettes."
Police Scotland Got Involved
Things escalated further. Police Scotland confirmed they have responded to reports of unusual activity at the Rockstar North address, following an earlier incident where a YouTuber actually entered the building. The wider GTA community has been split between amusement and genuine concern. One Redditor commented "why not just bug the place at this point" while GTABase publicly called the behaviour "unnecessary and dangerously obsessive." Even Tom's Hardware, which covered the story, directly addressed the fan: "Guys, don't do this."
What This Tells Us About GTA 6 Hype
Setting aside the questionable methods, this story perfectly captures where GTA 6 anticipation currently stands. People are literally hiding in bushes with homemade oxygen sensors because the wait has become unbearable. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has already confirmed marketing kicks off around June 21, 2026, and Trailer 3 is expected sometime between late June and early July. No amount of cigarette counting changes that timeline — Rockstar will release Trailer 3 when Rockstar is ready, regardless of parking lot activity.
What This Means for Indian GTA Fans
While we definitely do not recommend Indian fans start hiding outside Rockstar's Edinburgh office — that is a long flight and a questionable life choice — this story shows just how real and widespread GTA 6 fever has become globally. The official Trailer 3 window of late June to early July remains the most reliable information we have. Save your energy, and your oxygen sensors, for celebrating when the trailer actually drops.
My Take
I genuinely cannot decide if this is the most dedicated fan investigation in gaming history or the funniest shitpost ever committed to Reddit. Either way, this is exactly the kind of unhinged energy that makes the GTA community legendary. Just please — do not actually go to Edinburgh and hide in bushes. Trailer 3 is coming. Patience, my friend.
